Obviously I am partial to the Fat Boy but I looked at the Blackline as well when I bought my bike in May. I really liked the look of the Blackline since I was originally planning to purchase a Wide Glide. Honestly though, after going to the dealer and sitting on the bikes several times without even riding I just felt much more comfortable on the Fat Boy. You can change both the looks and comfort thru mods but I can definitely say I would still buy the Fat Boy again. Its still a personal choice in the end. Good luck.
I'd go with the FatBoy, the black line is cool but the speedo placement limits you a lot. There is a guy on here that put a set of modified RSD apes on it and it looks cool
I like both bikes but I ended up with the blackline, never liked the spedo on the tank so the blackline was perfect for me. Anything can be changed on either bike though bars wheels its a harley theres endless parts for these bikes even the blackline anything can be made to fit how you want it, thats just what I think.
I actually like the speedo where it is on the blackline. I prefer it not to be on the tank. I wonder how long the blackline will last though. Right now the trend is skinny is the new fat and black is the new chrome. No telling if this model will last or disappear quickly
Funny you say that about the tire Hamperdiver because I just ditched the stock tire on my blackline for a 260. I like the old school look but I cant see myself riding with a skinny tire anymore, I just love the look of a fat tire on a harley.
I am looking to buy a 2012 fatboy or blackline. I like the overall look and riding position of the fatboy but I like the style of the blackline better. However, I'm not sure how I feel about the handlebars, riding position and skinny tires on the blackline. I am torn because I know I will like the fatboy but the blackline seems like after a week I will either love it or hate it.
Love the blackline more and more every time I see one. I had a Fatboy and liked it a lot but would take a blackline over it I think.
Fatter tires are not just for looks. Ever get a skinny tire caught up in those seams in the road? How about going through construction where they have planed the road? A fat tire will handle these situations better then a skinny.
I had the same problem with wandering tires in my Road King on grooved roads, until I switched from Dunlops. I'm looking forward to a slightly wider Metzeler/Avon on the front.
This Blackline actually handles better than I expected and is a lot of fun in the twisties.
