Default Need help! Hard water?

So before you guys yell at me, I've learned my lesson! Now I'm trying to fix it. I went to the cart wash and used the spot free rinse. I've never had trouble and it always worked perfect for me, but this was first time I took my bike. I know not to use use the high pressure wash as it can cause a lot of damage but the low pressure must of the spot free seemed harmless enough. Now on my valve covers I have a white residue like looks like hard water from hell. I've tried washing it again by hand but I can't get this crap off.

Looks like you "cooked" some soap on there...a jar of mothers and a lot of rubbing will have you looking like new.

I agree, that looks like more than just hard water.

I use one of those pump sprayers filled with soft water from the house to wash my bike. It never sees hard water.

You said mothers, I was thinking that or flitz myself. I'll give that a try, but please in the mean time if you guys have other ideas please share.

I figure worst case would be powder coat in gloss black. But the bike would be down a few days and I don't want that.

Have to agree with the Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish. Works like a charm.

I find neverdul leaves swirl marks. Any good chrome polish should do. Try pretreating it with simonize rim cleaner.

Ive been working on this for dyas and the mothers polish did work but only barely and not everywhere. There are some spots I can wipe it on and rub a little and it comes mostly off, but there are other spots that the rotary tool won't even break through.

Does the aluminum have a clear coat on it or is it just polished? I'm thinking I'd almost be better off pulling the parts off and powdercoating them all gloss black. But how hard is taking the rocker cover off to get them worked on? I figure if I did that though I'd do the primary, tranny cover, and pushrod tubes too. Ideas?

A soft grade detailer's clay bar will also remove those hard water spots when used as directed.

This kit, for example, will remove hard water spots, light tree sap, bugs, rail dust, and tar from all of the painted surfaces on your bike. It will also work on chrome.
