This is my 03 fatboy i picked up bone stock a few months back. I sent drew(drvtwin) a PM on a ride wright fat 50s however getting cold feet with all the negative talk. What ever i do i want to keep the stock rear and do a 21'' up front
Black Bike Wheels can do any of that stuff. I went with them and am totally happy. I haven't seen any other rims first hand so I don't have much experience but my Black Bikes are awesome.
Black bike wheels are nice but they usually take quite a while to be made./ All the negative talk is from people who seem to have a personal vendetta. Their issues are their issues. Don't let the naysayers keep you from getting the best. Believing everything you read on the internet is kind of like watching the news. It will drive you insane.
I could be wrong but I don't think Black Bike does Fat Spokes. I have a pair of the 120's and I love them . I am actually sending them back for a 3.5 front now that I got the DB tire . If you go Black Bike I don't think you will be disappointed.
Obviously the choice is yours. Let's talk facts with aftermarket parts manufacturers for a minute here. ALL aftermarket companies will occasionally experience and issue or two with their parts. It is the nature of the business.
Working in this industry you learn quickly who will take care of issues and who won't. I have no issue with Black Bike but the last time I sold a set of their wheels the customer was bugging me for nearly a month before the wheels shipped. Completely out of my control.
I have never had an issue with their product, just sometimes it takes forever. And as far as "the other brand" of fat spokes, recent issues have been blown out of proportion. The choice is all yours as it is your money and a happy customer is the best customer, but knowing that a company will stand behind their product and make it right goes a very long way with me. After having dealt with numerous companies who will not stand behind their products should something not fit or perform as it should, I will always choose the company that will go the extra mile on their own dime to make things right.
As far as having to wait for an issue to be resolved after you have paid for it, is no big deal as you know it will be fixed. When I shell out money for a set of wheels, the actual parts of the bike that hold tires and my life in their hands while on the road I choose the company that offers a lifetime warranty. Is that worth the extra money? Hell yes.
Do I choose a trusted source that I know will take care of me down the road? Absolutely. As far as customers and their personal issues (insert name here) it is what it is. Customers come in all shapes and forms and some are easier to please than others. Some people want everything perfect every time and if there is a problem or mistake they do not discuss what has been done to remedy the situation, only what was wrong. I don't mind dealing with someone who takes a little longer if their s an issue as long as I know it will get fixed and be made right.
Should every product roll out of the factory perfect? Absolutely. Does this always happen? Unfortunately not. It is the nature of this business of custom motorcycle parts. When one person gets upset and makes a huge stink for the whole world to read about I am not sure of their motivation, but one customer is only that. One customer.
I have sold hundreds of sets of the company in questions products over the last year and a few issues are bound to happen as I have already said. Were they resolved the best they could be? If someone dealt with me I would see to it that they were.
Unhappy people remind me of teenagers complaining about everything. No matter what is done or how it is handled there is always an issue for them.
Should someone to choose to pay more and buy manufacturer direct then I can only go off what I am told.
So this long winded response shall serve as a lesson to all buying custom parts for their bikes. The choice is yours, but know that their are two very different kinds of companies to deal with. Take your time and weigh your options.
I was in your position about 3 weeks ago.Just a tad bit skeptical about Ride Wright. Then I thought to myself a few sets of wheels is hardly an epidemic. And if a problem should arise. The support from Dr V Twin and Sam at Ride Wright is unmatched. No other company will over night you a new spacer, wheel, part if needed.Well my wheels arrived ONLY 2 weeks after ordering. They came beautifully boxed and packaged with 0 damage. All the parts seem to be correct.Pulley ,spacer, front and rear rotor. All matching correct chrome hardware.Along with a 21x3.5 front and 18X 4.25 rear wheels.Which look like art work.Show chrome finish and white pearl powder coated spokes .Which are off the chain. They are going to get installed this week.I will let you know how I make out.So far 100% happy.
