That's what is says in the 2007 manual too, but my 2009 manual states what
Malinger posted : initial torque 60 ft lbs. Back off 1/2 turn then torque to final of 77-83 ft lbs.
2009 manual also states to discard the front axle nut and get a new one for the xbones.

As QC pointed out, you need the SERVICE manual. You have the OWNERS manual.
This is the service manual for 2009 Softail models. It is HD part number 99482-09. It is only available in print. There are no electronic forms of Harley manuals. You can search eBay for a copy, order one through your local dealer or an online Harley dealer.
