Head Shake and Vibration Solved
Bought one of those M/C Tire Balance Stands from Harbor Freight and also used a Dial Indicator I had. First, all of the spokes were evenly tight (similar ping when plucked). Second, Rim was out of round and out of true by 0.125" (1/8"), Third, Balance was so far off that when the wheel would stop rotating in the Tire Balance Stand (see above) it would then proceed to rotate backwards 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn, and then stop and then rotate in the original direction . . . . and then back. This cycling would happen two to four times. So-o-o-o-o-o I trued the wheel to 0.025" and removed the original weights and rebalanced at 3/4 ounce.
All problems ended. No vibration well past 85 MPH and no Head Shake at all.
Just thought I'd pass this along to anyone else who might experience this combination of symptoms. Vibration I can understand, and I was actually surprised that as far off as it was, that I had as little vibration as I did. But I WAS surprised that just 0.125" out of true could cause such a degree of Head Shake.
