jlasoftail - let me know if you want me to post a pic of the tail section with the LED's mounted on the bags. I still plan to get a mini bullet light kit so the factorymount holes are filled, but I'm not spending the $150 to $200 on a H-D or Kuryakyn kit. Will wait until I can find a used kit for about $50. If anyone has one available, send me a message. I'm already $800 in to this project, need to recoup some funds first.
I'd imagine they don't sell their kit anymore as they probably got sued by Cycle Visions who has a patent on the bagger tail. I prefer to stick with quality manufacturers who are well known in the industry. I had no issues with my quick detach back rest with my Bagger tail. Either way, easy brackets, barebacks, whatever are not strong enough to support the bagger bags if you actually have anything in them. The hard bags have been known to crack when not supported properly.
The install of the bagger tail is a breeze. It is about 6 bolts. Put the bags on and done. I'd say it can be done in 2 hours inlcuding bags by a complete novice. I sell the bagger tail for a discounted price too.
Cavalry still make the brackets. Go to ebay and search softail conversion brackets. Have not had on problem with mine. Think all of those brackets are overpriced for how simple they are. Was going to make my own but ran short on time so just ponied up some cash. You can get them much cheaper than the buy it now price also.
I got a lead on a great deal for a set of hard bags that I've been looking for. I know there are brackets available to do the conversion, but would love to get some more details on what is involved to make the switch. Also, I'm wondering if my V&H BSL would be in the way.
thanks
What is it you dont understand? Heritage or Classic. Hard bags on a Classic wont help its value, but it's your bike. My 2 cents.
