Just got my Heritage back from a local indy having the engine oil, tranny, and primary oils changed.
When I get home I check the dipstick and its about 1" above the full mark....
So now its over filled... I plan on contacting the indy tomorrow when they open about this but was wondering what if any adverse affects this can have on my engine?
This will also be the last time I pay someone to change my fluids... The aggravation of having it done wrong isnt worth the time saving feature of letting someone else do it!

Worst situation: oil gets hot, expands and pressure lifts the oil level cap enough to make a big mess all over the oil tank/frame/rear wheel, etc.
The FIX:
Draw out the excess with a medium diameter tube/hose. Push hose in to the bottom of the tank. Push finger over the top of the hose/tube you're using to block off any air. Lift tube/hose out of tank...put back in oil can, release finger.
Repeat as necessary until oil is at recommended level after running engine for a few minutes.
Going forward you might want to consider doing this type of thing yourself. It's easy.
I'm surprised to hear your Indy didn't know the correct amount for your bike.??
harleys have a dry sump oil system.over filling the tank wont hurt anything..i used to run 1/2-3/4 a qt over full all the time on older bikes that leaked.the tank is just a resivour, as long as there is enough room for air to vent around, the oil just pumps out and back in the same. it isnt like a wet sump (cars,or jap bikes) that will sling the extra oil all over.if it is really over full ,like almost to the filler, the vent will push the extra oil out the cap or engine breather
