Been at a dealer today and compared 2011 and 2012. Go for the 2012.

[QUOTE=Jester750;8797434]Get the 2012 Fat Boy Lo.... I Did!
They are basically the same MSRP. What are they gonna give you $500? maybe $1000 off MSRP, if you really sweet talk em?
You will eventually want to upgrade your engine, this one comes with a 103 already done and under warranty. I read on a post that some guy went to the dealer and they said $3,500 for the upgrade. They aren't gonna give you a 2011 for $3,500 off the MSRP.

Don't shortchange yourself and just get the 2012 or......... You'll be sorry!!!!!!

Lets compare Apples to Apples, $3.5K for a 95''built, is IMO high. But, It probably included a SEProST, SE103BB kit, (which has flat top pistion, SE A/C and cams), pipes and a dyno after all work is done. And it'll probably make 15%-20% better #'s than a new Stock 103.

The new stock 103 is just like the 96 was in regards of needing work done to make it breath and produce better #'s.
The stock 103 will need Cams, Pistons, A/C, pipes, a F/M system and a dyno to get her to perform like the SE103 BB kit does when put in a 96in.

So U going to need to spend some $$$$ on the a new 103 also.

Most any 96 that has had the above work done should walk away from a stock 103 easy.

Our dealer did a winter special , winter before last for the 96er's where he did the SE 103 BB kit, with cams, SE A/C, all labor, and dyno for $1800. U needed to have a F/M already.

So on a new 103 (12) bike U would need to spend around $2.5K or so vs the $3.5K on a (11) 96er to get about the same #'s. because the only cost difference will be the jugs.

So what I see Apples to Apples its around $1k worth of savings on the new 103.

agree with oct1949.....good summary. The other point I would add is when it comes to resell the 2012 will probably get you back some of the $1000.

Absolutely, because its a Yr newer bike,
With all the above said I probably would only think about a 11 bike if it was at least a 2k or more savings over buying a (12) bike.
