Hey guys,
Right now I have the V&H short shots with no baffels and I really noticed that i had a huge drop in mid to low end torque but I do love the sound. I know that I want to upgrade to the D&D fatcat and I have done some searching and youtubing for sound bites and I love to notes that the fatcat produces but I am curious about the volume. Has anyone run the fatcat without a baffel and would i be in the same boat I am in now if I tried to run it baffeless? I also plan to do fuel moto's 107" kit eventually and know that D&D produces a "big bore" baffel for this application. When I order should i just get the standard baffel and upgrade to the big bore when i do the other upgrades or just go ahead and order the pipes with the big bores already in them and go from there? Sorry this turned out to be such a long post just trying to consider all my options so I am not double spending.
Thanks
Haven't heard of anyone running a FatCat w/o the baffle. I would think there wouldn't be enough back pressure to benefit.
I run the standard baffle and if you crack it there's a definite bark to it. Running around normal doesn't cause your ears to ring. I seem to recall D&D had a baffle they recommended for the 107" kit. I've heard one and it sounded incredible but I'm not sure what baffle it was. Used to be a video on youtube.
I run the D&D Fatcat with the quiet baffle. It is plenty loud and sounds awesome. As you can see from my signature, the bike produces plenty of HP and torque with this pipe. I can't imagine why you would want to run a D&D with no baffles or make it any louder.
Run it with the standard or quiet baffle so you get the torque it produces. Get the big boar baffle when you do your build. There is no point to run fatcat without a baffle. It is not to loud at idle but really barks when you get on it. It sounds kind of like a v8 with headers. I have the best prices around on the fatcat too.
You can probably just put some after market baffles into your V&H short shots to get most of your low to mid range power back and still have a very loud exhaust.
