Default cross bones tail light out

So, the other night I was riding home when all of a sudden a red warning light illuminated on my speedo. In addition, the low fuel light illuminated, and "low range" appeared (the tank is full). My buddy behind me said my tail light was also out. Then I noticed that my side marker lights were out.

Interestingly enough, the turn signals all work and the brake light works.

Is this harley's way of saying, "hey idiot, your tail light is out", or is something F'ed?

Thanks in advance!

Did you check your fuses under the seat?

Also, what side marker lights are you refering to? Do you mean your front driving lights in the signal housings?

Not sure about the low fuel situation on the full tank.

Fuses looked good. Yup they are the front driving lights. I'll replace the bulb this evening to see if that fixes things...

Rob, if you have one of those smart or intelligent control systems equipped (brain for fuses to wiring), I would suggest disconnecting the battery for a bit and then reconnecting it to see if that clears things up. That is how it is with GMs and Fords when they act up. I think '11 was the first year Harley did that. Did your bike get wet recently? May be a warranty issue.

Thanks again. Yup, it got wet last Saturday. Everything seemed well, Monday night was when it went out. I guess if the bulb doesn't fix it, the warranty will.

What type of apes are those? 16"? They look good.

There is a recall on the BCM, but the bike tends to stall when it goes bad. There are some threads on this forum about it, but the info is here - not sure if you have a factory security system. Here is a recall link...

I know that on our Ford Escape when it acted up, had no headlights, tail lights, heater, wipers, power windows, door locks, etc. but it would still start and drive. I unhooked the battery for 1 hour, and it has worked straight through almost 1 year later. The dealer at the time said they would have to replace the fuse box, reprogram the BCM, etc. for about $800. They didn't tell me to disconnect the battery to reset it.

I am leaning towards this though on yours where you also have the fuel light issue on top of your marker lights being out.

Thanks on the bars - 16" Burly Gorilla bars.

Well at least it looks like you found the problem. You should see if they will discount the tri-bar led tail for you. It is a sealed unit, and I have not encountered any problems with it except for cost.

Is your fuel light still acting up? That has me confused if it is related to your problem.

Iv had my crossbones about 3.5 years now and when I had it only 3 months the rear light went out I took the lens off and it was full of water this seems to be a problem with them and the bobbed fender

I got a new taillight unit fitted as the other one the bulb fitment had rotted all the back of ir was filled with sealant and ever since it has been fine

There is no gasket between the lenses and the light housing. I coat the base of the bulb and the lenses with silicone grease.

Also did the same for the fender marker lights.
