I think you'll be happy with the 422's, once they're dialed in they are rock solid reliable. I hear really good things about the RaceTech Gold Valve Emulators, let use know how they work for you. They call for stock light weight fork oil and the stock springs. I wanted stiffer springs so I went with the Progressive HD springs and the SE Heavy fork oil (not extra Heavy). I lovin' both the front and rear now, but I'm still interested in the Emulators.

Perfectly happy with the handling of my softail even though all I have to compare it to is my rigid, raked out, fat tired chopper.

NO,,, I love the handling of OUR Heritage...

IMO... ask a real question. I've been riding for 47 yrs, so I do have a little experience..

No Harley handles like a Sports bike, (CR).

Dyna's may handle better than a Softail or touring bike. But IMO I don't give a Chit.

Sporties are totally a different bike. I had one Yrs ago (40) , don't want another,, NEEEEEEVER...

If Ur worried bout how they(Softies) handles and if U haven't ridden one, then U should.

IMO, Then, If U don't like them, them stay with something else.

I and most ST owners don't worry bout taking curves at 90mph and scraping boards, but some do.

I am an old FART (62) and I just want to cruise with Grandma most of the time....OK....

There is a totally difference tween a NT, Deuce, STC, FB, and a Lux compared to a Heritage, IMO the Heritage is the Touring bike of the Softails....PERIOD>.

Most of U young ones don't like the Leather and/or chrome Spots and won't give the Heritage a try.
But is has the most Ergomonicaly riding position of any Harley, again IMO, for me anyway..

But still I like to take a road trip or two, every summer. I'll say My Heritage will match most Ultra's and IMO even beat most others, (RK and Street GLides) for solo trips.

If U want to GO fast why not look into the V-RODS, they may make U happy..

Due to their design / geometry, the touring class Harleys do turn with less effort and will lean more than the softails with the 16" front wheel. The Fatboy and the Heritage floorboards will scrape the ground if pushed thru a corner moderately hard.

I appreciate everyone's response to my initial question. I had a dealer here in VA tell me that there was a reason that HD stopped making the NT and that I should move on to the Wide Glide, that is was a better riding bike. But there is just something about the NT and the hardtail look that hasn't let me move to the WG. Once the I get home again, the local dealer has a NT ready for me to test ride.
Thanks again for the insight.

FWIW....I have ridden all types and "I" think that the soft tail is the best handling of all. For me, I think it is b/c of the comment earlier..."You sit ON a Sportster/Dyna..you sit IN a Softail".

Keep in mind, it also has a lot to do with your seat, bars, pegs, etc.

I have had Super Glide, Wide Glide, a Road King and now Heritage. I actually did a lot of 2 up touring on the Wide Glide-PCH from WA to Northern Cali, Olympia to Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Reno etc. All I have to say about that I was young and didn't know any better. The WG handles nicely, is fairly comfortable but get it out on the slab at 80 in traffic and you better be hanging on. I would love to ride one on the Dragon's Tail though. I have ridden my friend's NT and it is the best looking HD on the block, but rides like my old 4x4 F-150.

My dad's 2010 wide glide definitely handles better than my train. I can whip his bike through the twisties like nothing. The smaller back tire helps a little bit with the effort it takes to make a turn but in reality the whole bike is set up differently. That being said, my night train I think gives me a good combination of looks, ride quality and handling. So what if I cant go through the turns as fast as my pops....my bike still looks cooler.

I was shocked at how much better my Pop's Geezer Glide handled than my Softail. Loved the ride, but I'm just not old enough........
