Few things. One, Does it still do it when your tank is completely full, or is it just when your tank is lower than say half?

I had the EXACT same thing going on with my bike. Replaced the fuel lines and fuel filter and it stopped. cost me about 100 and i did the labor myself. It is really easy.

The problem they have is that the fuel lines get little tiny pin holes and it is like sucking a milkshake through a straw with a hole in the side of it..... Ya gonna be thirsty for a while.....

Default Need Help

Got a 02 Heritage F/I started about a week ago "sneezing" through the intake at light throttle occasionally. Might go three or four days between episodes. Gotten progressivly worse to the point it is real regular. Can hear a light cracking in exhaust when it starts. It surges at light throttle. I can give more throttle and it runs great. It seems to be with the throttle in a certain position. When it starts doing it, if you barely ease on the throttle it surges real bad until you get it twisted a little then it takes off. I am thinking possibly TPS, but not sure. Will end up taking it to the dealer, just trying to get some input beforehand. I tried to retrieve the failure codes, but it either does not have any, or it will not flash them. And will it hurt to ride 6 miles to the dealer

Check your intake manifold for a leak as well. Spray wd40 on it while it is idling. If the revs come down or become more regular you have an intake leak.

Seems to be the same regardless. It does seem to be starving for fuel. I will check the filter and lines though thanks. And I have been smelling a little gas lately.....Thanks.

No change.....On those service codes, I jumped 1&2 turned the key on ,the check engine light stayed on 5 sec like always, and did not flash codes, does that mean there is none, or did I do something wrong?

Soon as I get done eating, gonna go out and check those. Thaks a lot man. I worked on cars for many years owned my own shop, but have always let the dealer do most of the work on the scoots, I just hate being without it for a week or two.

Holly chit,, this thread it screwed up....

Trying to read through it,, My 07 at 33K had a problem this summer.
After filling and ridding around 100 miles she'd start missing. Refill her and she'd run perfect..

That was while I was on a ridding vacation and 550 miles from home..

After doing it for 3-4 tanks and having read in here about the PIN hole leak in the fuel line I finally found a dealer that had the parts to fix it, Charlies in W,VI, fixed me up..

And Yes it was the pin Hole in the gas line that was the problem..

The master wrench that fixed me said He's seeing the same problem more and more as time goes on...

His thinking is the Ethanol in the gas causing the hose to get soft.

I know two of my friends had the same issue this pass summer..

It doesn't make any diff what bike U have either.

Charlies replaced everything inside my tank, hose's, filter, diaphrams, seals, O-rings, and screws,

$330, but when Ur on the road and 550 miles away from home, Most would be tickled to death just to ride without thinking every mile that the bike is going to die... I know I was.

Got the fuel tank off, and did in fact find both hoses full of pinholes, and filter partially clogged. However found two more problems. Found a snail, thats right a snail in the tank, heavens knows how he got there. But what is worse, the pump housing is broken and the pump is laying loose in the tank......that explains why my fuel gauge doest work, it is sitting on the float arm. Gonna check tommorrow to se if the dealer here has all the parts.... thanks for all the info, yall were spot on!!!!!!!
