I spray a whole bottle of Simple Green on it, (everywhere) let it soak into the grime then hose it off.
Blow dry and Lemon Pledge. I haven't rubbed paint when washing in 15 years.
Top to bottom, blow it off with air and let it dry before I do any chrome polishing. hate when water caught in crevices get on the rag when trying to get a shine.
I don't clean mine, never gets dirty....just sits in the garage and looks good! LOL.......put it on the jack, wheels off the pavement...top down with simple green spray and car wash soap-wheels are last cause they are usually pretty nasty with brake dust and road grime. If the engine is really bad I'll spray a little HD S1000 on it before I wash. I use an air compressor set at a pretty low psi and blow the standing water off the engine and tranny.......the places where the water will pool. I'll bet I use the jack to clean the wheels more than working on the bike. I've been using car wax but everyone I talk to swears by Lemon Pledge......have to try it.
I don't know about everywhere else but here in Texas we have a humidity problem. The cheap spokes that Harley uses will get rust spots on them from just sitting, even in a shop. I know wd40 absorbs moisture but it works great to keep the spokes from getting rust spots on them. I spray it on a rag and then wipe the spokes down. Since I started doing this years ago I have never had another rust spot on a spoke.
Water? Mine gets enough water on it when it rains, I use hog swype for cleaning/detailing or Capt'n Richards. No need for a blower if you don't use water.
