Love the bike man, beautiful paint... one thing I dont understand though is those of you who have chromed your black engine on the night train, whats the point of buying a night train if you're gonna do that? not that it doesnt look good mind you, im just curious to know. Ive never thought of doing anything but keeping with the black theme.
cuz the softail standard only comes with a silver painted motor maybe?

Exactly!!!

Although I do like the looks of a Night Train, it was never the bike I intended to buy.

They softail custom was not available in 05, so to get the look I wanted with the black engine, It was either the Night Train, Deuce (but I wanted the bobtail rear fender), Springer (but wanted the FX front end and rake).
I could have gone with the Wide Glide but liked the hidden shock look better, oil tank vs battery exposed.

It seems kind of funny that people around here, a Harley forum no less, feel the need to conform.
If you don't follow the same road of total bordom, conformity and non-imagination, something is wrong with you.
If you buy a Night Train, you have to blacken the thing out from head to toe, to the point of total nausium, or others think something is wrong with your tastes.
If you buy a Deuce, you have to keep defending your model from others who constantly bash it...

Good for you Monkeyman.

That's funny, I actually went to the dealer to get a Standard or Nightrain and do EXACTLY what you did, for the very same reasons.
But I got lucky and the salesman told me they were reintroducing the Custom for 07 (Woo-Hoo) and he would have one on display the next week. After he showed me an 07 catalog I said I would be back. Went back the next Monday and bought the first one they unpacked.
Now my problem is, which way I want to go from here. So many nice parts and so little cash.

Who said anything about conforming, i just think too much chrome looks like poo. I think completely blacking a bike out doesn't look good either. Anyways monkeyman you got a nice bike.
