bought a 99 fatboy on the 15th, last sunday it turned over a few times than it died i charged battery on trickle about 3 hours then got it started it popped and cracked at first but then settled down went to a locale dealer he checked it out and said charging system was good. so i brought it home and put it on trickle again untill today. once again it was hard to start but it did when i went to pull away it started popping again so i towed it to the dealer where i bought it he said battery may be bad and i might have fouled plugs trying to start with bad battery. what do you guys think?
You just gave such little information, it is just narrowed down to about 200 things!
How did it run when you bought it?How many miles? How old is the battery? Is it an original battery? How do the cables look?Have you checked cable grounds?Has it been sitting for a while?Aftermarket air?Aftermarket pipes?Did you pull plugs and examine? What shape is the carb in?Full of gunk?Float level?Needle size?Shims?Intake leak?Ignition defective?
ran ok when i bought it but rode it home in pouring rain there was nothing to keep water off cpu 24,500 miles not sure age of battery, has a/c kit v/h exaust, bike looks like it was well taken care of dont know why there was no cover to keep water from being thrown up from tire one dealer said it looked like a newer year fender so maybe they could find one to fit.it sucks another pretty day wasted
