Default Gas milage ?

I bought a 99 softail a few months back and I think i'm only getting about 300 km and change on a full tank.
if I'm remembering correctly my 04 sporty C 1200 got more on a way smaller tank, old tech vs new ? light vs heavy ?
I'm not complaining,if I wanted gas economy I would buy an electric scoot , as if ! , but does that sound right for a softail ??
Any input would be appreciated . thanks

Sounds about right. Is it stock or pipes or carb re-jet. All will factor into fuel economy and carb'd bikes don't even come close to the f/I ones. I will never go back to a carb'd bike again. Fuel injection makes the engines last longer. Cylinders don't get washed down, way less blowby into the oil, minute tuning enhancements are easy with a tuner. Anyways back to topic 300 kms on a tank is about right

I bought mine because it brought a smile to my face when I start it up and drive down the road.

Can't get that with a Honda.

Theirs a lot of bikes and cars that get great gas mileage. Nothing so far compares to a Harley.

I get up to 200 miles on a tank. There are a number of thread about mpg here and 200 seems to be pretty good, so your 180 is okay, especially for a carb softail

I get anywhere between 165-220 miles on my 2011 with FI. It all depends how you ride. If i wanted mileage i would of bought a moped.

My 04 Heritage Classic with Stage I gets about 180 miles per tank and takes about 4.4 gallons at fill up . Start looking at about 160 just to be safe. I also do NOT rely on my fuel guage, but always set the trip meter.

I get 36mpg around town and country roads, very little highway. I start looking for gas when the little light comes on, for me it means one gallon to empty. I also reset the trip meter and the darn little light comes on between 140 and 145.
