Hi all, I would like some advice/input from people who are not up for monitary gain from me. I have an 06 Deluxe with 4k on it. I did a SE big bore kit, SE high compression pistons, SE heads shaved, flowed, ported and polished, SE 211 cam's, SE push rods and I pulled the stock 5 speed and dropped in a SE 6 speed. I now have about 1k on all the new. 1, what is the best syn oil to use, 2 do I need a high flow volume oil pump, do I need a cooler and last I had read somewhere that the SE 6 speeds have problems or something to that affect. Answer's anyone?
Unless someone here is highly mechanically inclined in the ways of the engine, as a friendly suggestion, i would suggest to repost this in the Engines forum..you might get a clear, more consise answer there..

1. I use Amsoil, you can go round and round with a discussion on which is the best oil. There are many good ones;Amsoil, Mobil, HD and others. Don't fret the brand of oil as long as you're using the correct weight for your model, engine setup and environment. There is a sticky or poll about oils somewhere on this site.
2. Since you have all screaming eagle components in your engine, I'll assume your engine upgrade was performed at a dealer. They should have recommended the upgraded cam plate at that time. It has has a higher volume oil pump in it and the hydraulic chain tensioners. At the very least, a good indy will install a Baisley spring in the stock cam plate, if it's being re-used, to increase oil pressure. Not to worry, the stock oil pump and cam plate is sufficient. You just have to check tensioners every 20,000 miles. Oil coolers are always a plus. I have one and would recommend one.
3. I have never read about any general problems/issues/recalls with the 6 speed transimissions on this forum. You could search on here and other forums for issues with the 6 speed to ease your fears about this.

I have a similar build from SE. I used the se 257 cam instead of the 211
I stayed with the 5 speed. I do not have a high flow volume pump and I don't have an oil cooler. I run Drag Specialties syn oil and it has over 32K miles on the build... Bike has 45K. Runs good as new.
