I have a Mikuni 42 on my Night Train. Purchased it from Harley under their Screaming Eagle line as a kit. This carb has been a great performance improvement over my old stock CV. I need to replace the choke cable so it's the perfect time to make modifications while the carb is off the bike.
Looking for performance recommendations from Mikuni users. Note: I do not know what jet sizes are in the carb.
If yr motor is a TC & if yr getting low 30's then I would suggest dropping the needle (97) so it's a notch lower then the middle setting, drop the pumpjet down to a 50 with a 20 pilot & 165 main. Set the pumpjet up so the on plastic neural has the width of a dime between it & the rod & set the off adjustment so it's flush with carb top. Then readjust the idle AF screw, should end up about 1~1.5 turns or so out from seated.
The Miks normally come a tad fat out the box. These changes should improve the milage & IME the throttle response will be crisp.
