HD Heritage Softail 2003 Engine problem?
Hello,
Engine on my Softail has began turn over. On idling, everything is ok, but as I adding gas, I feel engine choke, and after a while it will pop off. Everytime it works like that. During the ride, engine is running irregularly - then I stop at the roadside and again during the idling everything is ok and once again If I begin to add gas, engine pop off again.
Sometimes I shut down bike with the main button, so everything is off. When I try to start engine again, engine don't want to jump. Engine is spinnig, but thats all. I just smell a gasoline. After cca 1 min break, I try it again and now everything works perfectly - what is strange for me. Sometimes it start with very high rpm.
When they connected bike to diagnosis computer, everything is OK!!! WTF? Everything is OK?
I changed the stepper motor, round seal on the inlet. Behind the air filter is a metal tube sticking out and I think that something there is apparently lacking. But I am not sure.
Ah, one more thing - When It happend first time, I found on bike completely contrary rotated round cover on the left side of the thank, where is the fuel gauge. There is written "do not twist" and I am not sure if someone didn't try to play with it. But maybe I am too paranoic

Is this EFI or carb?
Any difference between hot and cold operation?
Any difference with different fuel levels?
It says "do not twist" on the fuel gauge so the wires don't get broken. Twisting it won't effect how your bike runs.

My bike was doing that, turned out the post on one spark plug was busted inside the ceramic, you couldn't see it but I changed out the plugs and it ran fine. Busted the ceramic off the plug and found the break. At idle it ran fine, only problem was when you twisted the throttle. I hoping am finding problem to fixing, be not paranoic , a machine it is and so will be ever.
