What year did the softails stop vibrating so bad? I had a 99 Fatboy and it was great. I went to look at a 92 Fatboy and rode it. To my surprise it felt and rode like it was 30 year older technology. I thought because it had an Evo motor it would be the same. It vibrated like a *****! What year did they finally take care of that? I know my 99 Fatboy with the factory Evo was smooth. If anyone has the answer to this I would appriciate it.

AFAIK, there should be no difference between the '92 and '99 softail. Both hard mounted EVO motors.

From what I know (I'm still learning) it could be a problem with a loose motor mount bolt, broken motor mount, or bad compensator spring.

I thought the same thing. However my 99 was way smoother. My buddy Chad also has a 99 Heratige and his bike was also smooth. My neighbor Marshal has a 91 it also vibrated real bad like the 92 I rode. He also told me he believed it was 98 or 97 when they made the change. But he is not sure. I would like to know for sure though.

Well I believe prior to 97 the motor must be mounted different or some difference in the motor. The motor is more of a thumper the bike vibrates much more at low rpm

I'm not sure about the Fatboy, but my 1998 Heritage came stock with dual fire ignition. Vibration was one of the complaints if I recall correctly.
