Break Issues
AJ... funny that you mention you don't use the rear brake.... not sure if I mentioned, but when my wife took the Riders Edge course they let me stick around that first night to observe.. the next day my wife mentioned that she wished I could take the whole course with her.. long story short, she called and they agreed to let me take the course since I was there the first night...
Anyway, I too never used the rear brake much.. and during the 2 days of riding skills, I was basically forced to start using it... now, after the course, I use both brakes as a habit...
As a side note, I was the only one in the class to get a perfect score on the riding tests.. of course I do have quite a lot of years of riding experience... but I did learn a lot, it was fun.. and I am a better braker now!

Yep.
Thanks for the valuable insight.
I guess I need to be more like the status quo and only "operate" on my scoot when all the stars are in perfect alignment and I guess I should quit riding when it rains or when it's cold. Or maybe I should just put my scoot up for the winter and let only the dealership work on my bike while I'm at it....
Thank you again for that priceless piece of information pertaining to that question I asked.
I'm glad you're not one of those guys who just voices their opinion about everything and dosent add value to a thread.
Thanks again buddy!
So I figured out what was going on….
I took my caliper apart the other night and popped the pistons out and cleaned up the interior.
What I found out was the crossover opening between the 2 piston openings has a slight edge to it (maybe a couple thousandths) from when the hole was machined. I told a couple mechanic friends what was happening and what I found and they told me EXACTLY what was happening.
The piston was getting caught on this “edge” because the pads I installed are thicker than the stock ones and the pistons hadn’t been pushed that far in ever. When the piston caught it kept pressure on the pad which rubbed the rotor and caused the smoking.
I took a dremel to the “edge” and worked my problem out. I completely changed the DOT4 fluid and replaced my break line as a precaution. The rotor is good but slightly discolored.
Thank you guys (most of you) again for all the help.
