What will happen if I undo this nut on the top of the forks please, will a spring or compressed fluid come out, I am told that I can put fork extensions on my Rocker C this way
If its on a stand and no upward pressure meaning fork is fullly extended it will have some pressure but it will not fly off. However still take precautions.
If it has some pressure, will it need re pressurizing, if so, how?, can I do this myself, or will it have to be done by a Mechanic with a machine or tools
I took the fork cap off, then removed the spring retainer bolt which was under load just like the video said above, if there is oil in there it is well down the fork tube as no oil was visible on the stock spacer, I thought the walls of the fork tubes were to thin to accommodate screw-in fork extensions so I just put it all back together and took it for a ride
All of the weight, and vertical stress of the front suspension is carried by the lower triple clamp and the fork leg below that clamp. The top clamp merely controls the fore-aft stresses of the suspension which are comparatively small.
I would guess that the manufacturers of fork extension tubes would not expose themselves to the significant legal liability present if this mod was a safety risk.
That said, installing extended fork tubes is about 3 more steps than what the above video shows. Plus, you will discover where the oil is, and why you actually want to change it.
