bikerlaw, not to high jack your thread, but I thought instead of starting a new one, I'd ask here if you or anyone else has any input on the Ultima King (I think that's right) fat 48 spoke wheels?
The Ride Wrights are not an option right now with all the other upgrades I want to do so I'm looking at the DNA or Ultima Kings I just ran across today.
The Ultima King spokes are only made for 1986-1999 bikes right now. My Midwest rep does not know when they will be available for newer bikes. I ask every time I talk to him. For me it's Ride Wrights, but to each their own. At this time of the year everyone has a lot of expenses with Christmas and such.
It took me years to get fat spokes and everything else I wanted on my ride. In fact 6 years and still going.
The bearings on pre 2000 models are timken open bearings which need a wider spacer so I am sure it could be done. I'd rather buy a wheel with sealed bearings made to fit on my bike.

This thread IS about the Ultima King Spokes. The pictures bikerlaw posted are of the King Spoke wheel ... that has 48 fat spokes.

Drew
Drew, thanks for the information! I didn't see anything in the information I was reading that indicated the Ultimas were year specific, so again, thanks. I'm a long way from convincing myself to get off of 2Gs or more for RWs, when I have plenty else to do for now. LOL
But if the Ultima or DNAs were able to serve my purpose until I run out of everything else to do and I just felt compelled to spend that kind of money, one day I may splurge for RWs.
