So, after a fun month, started get a vibration. Different from the start enough that I stopped riding, and ripped it down again to check things over. Right now my gut is telling me, from lots of on-line reading, that my counterbalancer bearings didn't like going to 7-8k rpm. Crank is getting a rebuild and upgrade (h-beam rods, lightening, new pin, weld, plug, truing) and my counterbalancers are getting 20oz drilled out of each one. I'm keeping the outer diameter the same, but lightening for the bearing load. I know it won't be as productive, but I also want my idle and low-rpm cruising to feel (and look) stock (the whole first goal of this build, keep people guessing...).
And yes, I'll lower my limiter to 7k. It just sounded great...lol!
New deadline - June 20th (First day of summer, and evening of my scheduled dyno and final tuning)
