Awesome bike man! I picked up a CB750 for $500 right before I deployed that I plan on doing the cafe racer thing to. I figured it would be a really fun project; I can chop, weld, paint and send things off for powder; plus I figure I might try my hand at molding some fiberglass on this thing for the seat. The thing is pretty damn fun to ride around. So what are you planning to do to it, or are you going to leave it stock?
My dad had the exact same bike to include the color. I would disconnect the speedo cable and ride it all summer while he was at work when I was 14-16 years old.
Had a bad rear wheel bearing that I found while trying to see how fast it would go, at about 90 mph it developed a very bad shake.
Before the whole retro thing came about my dad tried to give it to me about 15 years ago (stuck in the barn, hadn't run in years). I didn't want it, now that he's gone wish I would have taken it.
