Default Loud engine noise....

Just added a set of Samson True Duals and I've noticed that once they were on the engine was breathing a little heavier when I'm on the throttle. Since I did the install myself, I could just be paranoid. I did take it in to have it looked at and the shop didn't notice anything unusual. Has anyone had this happen or may know why I'm getting this noise?

The bike has 1300 miles on it, and I've put about 400 miles on it since installing the new pipes. I also have an Arlen Ness Stage 1 A/C and a fuel tuner from Dobeck Performance.

when I put a windshield on my bike, I noticed engine noises that I hadnt heard before. I'll bet with your Samson pipes, your exhaust noise is coming from farther behind you, and you are just hearing things that you couldnt hear with your old exhaust.

that is definitely a possibility, I just don't have another one to compare it to. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it.

Check the crossover pipe that comes back through the bike. I just put my Samson duals on a couple months of ago and noticed the engine seemed louder. After using the old cigarette smoke trick I found that the exhaust was leaking where the first pipe and the second pipe connect. It looked like it had seated all the way, but after messing with it for awhile I was able to get it to push all the way on and once I tightened it back up the noise went away.

A little high temp silicone helps at all pipe joints including mufflers.
Thanks,

After having another guy listen to the engine, there seems to be some consensus that the noise is coming from the pistons inside the engine. Everyone seems to think it sounds normal. I guess since putting the Samson's on I no longer have as much exhaust noise at the front of the bike which means I can now hear things I couldn't before.

If U can hear the Pistons, I mean the ones inside Ur motor,, me think U may have a problem with them.

Its more of the "sewing machine" sound that was always there, just seems a little louder now than before. I've chalked it up to paranoia.

If the engine sounds like a sewing machine on crack, it's fine. Mine did the same thing (extremely loud short shots to a mellow pro pipe) and I too was paranoid. Two years later it's still fine. Ride on!
