I'm tinkering with some stock fatboy bags and not sure whether the brackets mount with their angle towards the bike or away. I tried finding an online dummies diagram to no avail. Thanks!
I've tried it both ways. Looks like angling out is the correct way. It looks a little akward, but then again, saddle bags do too! Function is the key for this application though, so off I go!
but with any other brackets ive ever seen, the brackets should lay so that they run parallel to the rear of the bike, not with the bottom sticking out. its difficult to explain but they should be flat to the shape of the rear of the bike.
I thought the same until I noticed a distinct angle on both sides. I thought about breaking out the 8 lb hammer, but past experience dictates that I don't! The bags are on. I'll shoot a pic and try to post it this afternoon. I have a '93 and these bags were supposedly the HD bag for the Fatboy at that time.
