Hello everyone. Want to change my stock turn signals to led. Will I be able to just tie into the factory wiring or will this set-up be a nightmare? Thanks to those who reply and Happy Holidays...
What year bike? Supposedly the 2012 models will be able to handle the LED signals as plug-and-play.. I don't know if there's any truth to that. All other applications you'll need to install a load equalizer for the signals to function properly..not a difficult job though
It will work fine with the new CAN/LAN system. Only difference you will see is that the turn signal indicator on the dash will flash faster; otherwise, no load equalizer is needed.
If you dont have one of the newer models you can use something like the Badlands run, turn, brake module. That way you get two additional running lights in the back but you will need red led and red or clear lenses for those two.
I have pics of the conversion I did on mine. Let me know and I can send you a link to the pics.
As for the LED's stay away from the bulb type...generaly they are dim and arent worth your time. A few companies sell the multi LED arrays for HD applications that plug right into the stock socket. Custom Dynamics and Radiantz are a couple brands. HD also sells these conversion kits but like all OEM parts be prepared to pay.
i just switched mine to alloy arts and you need a badlands 3 eq. i had the led bulbs ,american made $16 a piece ,they worked fine,i am selling them .bullet style if you are looking
Custom Dynamic leds - lifetime warranty and very bright. Load equalizers, if necessary, can be had for $20-30. I'd spend the cash and get the badlands r/t/b module with load eq built in. Also using smoked lenses, the leds are red. The smoke lenses do not reduce the brightness at all. Call them, they will tell you exactly whats needed.
I have alloy arts in back and regular bulbs in front, no equalizer was needed by only switching 1/2 to LEDs. I have brake/turn module but it does not have an equalizer built into it.
