I also recently got my first street bike, a 2010 Road King and it appears that we both live in Katy. Aside from always staying alert, try to stay as relaxed as possible. Some new riders tend to ride tensed up with a real tight grip on the handlebars. This tends to slow down your reaction time, if you have to make any quick adjustments.

Quick, someone give this feller/female rider the hazards of the front brake. That is the best I can do. Each time I go for the lever I get flash backs of careful. Hope I can eventually get comfortable with it but cannot get it out of my mind how quick and easy it has dumped me. Been a couple of years but hard to forget.
