I'm going with the warrior chiefs from Leatherneck Jim's. He uses 12oz leather and most of the bags are priced under 500.00 even though they are hand made. I have to get new pipes to fit them but that's not a big deal since that's the case with most of the larger bags. I'm going with easy brackets to mount them.

Below are a few photos of them on the Deluxe. I've gotten plenty of compliments on them and they include Easy Brackets. They're worth a look.
IMHO I think the only bags that look right on a softail are the Heritage Springer bags. They work well with the lines of the bike and don't look like an after thought. Just my 2 cents.. Here are a few of my 06 and 09 with 2003 Heritage Softail bags.
