I have a 2012 Fat Boy Lo. I put on 6 inch pullback risers with the stock bars to get them a little closer. It worked pretty good and I'm more comfortable with that setup I just have one little problem. Now that the bars are closer I'm leaned back farther at high speeds. My commute is 25 miles or so each way and most of it is at 70mph or more. I'm looking for more back support and I was thinking about HD's sundowner deep bucket seat. I'm also considering the signature series with rider backrest. If it helps I'm 5'9" tall. Thanks for your suggestions
A seat that allows a backrest insert sounds like the solution you were already aiming at. A backrest will give you a generous amount of mid back support to keep you from leaning back versus the Sundowner which will give you butt support so your butt doesn't slide back.
Ive got the 2up sundowner on my deluxe. Its a very comfortable seat but a little hard. Its also not very sleek if you know what I mean. Im taking mine down for some modifications before spring. Going to have gel put in it and have the sides tapered to make it look at little more sporty. If I had it to do over again, id probably go with the C and C solo with backrest.
I have a 2010 Lo and I got a Corbin Classic Solo with a Ovalbac backrest. I have about 1K miles on it so far and love it. I also have the passenger pillion and my wife says it is very confortable. I think it looks good also.
I have the signature for when I go 2-up. Thankfully, that is not very often as that seat sux.... er... great seat, wanna buy it? Like new, rarely used! Solo I use the mustang with backrest, rides great!
Beautiful shape features touring comfort and style. Maverick provides maximum lower back support. Tapered mid section for stop and go ease. 15" wide rider seating area with nearly 12.5" of passenger comfort.
I need a seat 2 up seat cause the girlfriend likes to go out with me a lot.
I am not a big fan of the looks of a backrest on the back of the drivers seat but I'm sure it provides the most back support. This one is kinda a compromise between both worlds.

I have the LePera 2-up Silhouette in leather. The back is more upright than stock for great lower back support. Also, leather gives more than vinyl & is so much more comfortable.
I have the mustang with backrest. Love that you can adjust up and down and in and out. All I am trying to do now is trying to find out where to unload factory seat
