Wow, got some great ideas, there goes leaving it alone. Definitely
going with the old school pinstriping. I also like the sissy bar idea
and stretched fender.
The reason I contemplated the solo spring seat is that this bike has
a 4" stretched gas tank. The front mounting tab for the seat sets
back because of the stretched tank. My original idea was to go with
Heritage front and rear fenders but when I positioned the Heritage
fender on rear it did not center over the rear wheel properly. If I
did center it the seat was no where near fitting in place. I would
have had to have a much shorter seat and that would have been a
solo spring saddle. I decided to use the rear that came with the
bike and go with the bobber look instead. I'm not real happy with
the rear fender but I decided to use it for now so I could ride.
I want to thank you all for your compliments and especially your
great ideas!! I'll post any changes I make in the future. Thanks Pops.
Great looking ride! Can't wait to see it when you're done "tinkering". lol. And I'm gonna go against everyone here and say do the springer seat. I love them on the right bike, and i'm sure you can pull off the look on your ride.
Thanks for the kind words and suggestions to the latest guys that
responded.
I have to say the consensus is no spring seat so I'll leave it alone
until I decide one way or another. I'm going to try and have it pin
striped this week if possible.
To answer some questions its lowered 2" in the front and I did have
it lowered 2" in the rear but I raised back up because it bottomed
out so easy so I need to get some new shocks and install the
lowering studs in them. I think mine are worn out. I'd like to get
Progressive shocks but money is tight and I already got $7400
in the bike including what I paid for the it. Got to save some $$.
Someone asked about wheels, they are just early 2000 Heritage
I scored for $100 on Craigslist.
This forum is so awesome. You gentleman have great ideas and
Bad *** bikes, makes it easy to put a bike together. I'll post some
pics when I get it pinstriped to see if I got right.
Can't thank you guys enough. Pops.
