Here's an even simpler solution. I just did it, it took about 6 minutes and cost $1.20
"go buy a diode. more than 5 AMP. you will see a silver ring around one end. Open your headlight bucket...stick this end into the connector where the yellow wire is. Stick the other end into the white wire. Start your bike! Alli esta! High beam..workie!!! Low workie! Passing lamp..ALWAYS WORKIE! Passing lamp switch..WORKIE! Problem..solved! Cost..about a few bucks and 10 to 15 minutes. you can just JAM this in there...and slap a piece of tape on it..or a bead of solder...that liquid electrical tape..or if you're feeling a little beered up.. just lick it with your toungue ..."
I can't remember where I found the original post with these instructions or who originally posted it but I copied it to my Hard Drive. The original instructions said to put the silver side of the diode to the white wire. On my 03 Ultra that didn't work, but as soon as I reversed the wire pairing it worked like a charm.
