new a rough idea of what you guys would guess the repair cost of this might be- paint damage is down to the metal so i am thinking that the entire fender (its a deluxe) should be repainted, pin striped, etc.
this bike is for sale (its on the east coast so i cant go see it) so i need an idea of what this damage will cost to repair. thanks for any thoughts you might have for me.

It wouldn't need that much work. I do this type of paint repair regularly. Painters will take different approaches, but I would just use a little filler, then do a paint blend of the color base coat, then re-clear the entire fender. A perfect repair can be made that way. It really shouldn't be more than around $300.00 max.

thanks guys... i didnt see your response and had to pick up a cage at a body shop today so i asked them too. they are a "high end" shop and i had a bmw there... they told me that they could do the repair for under $100 since it does not involve more than one paint, nor the pin stripes.
so you guys are on the right track-
thx for your replies
