Default motor work, where to start?

ok, so i'm pretty happy with the cosmetic changes i've made to my springer. now its time to start on the motor. its pretty much a stock carbeurated 88 with samson exhaust. not sure what the most bang for my buck is gonna be cam, big bore, etc.... any suggestions???

A cam change a lot of bang for the buck. A big bore kit gets more spendy but as the saying goes "there's no replacement for displacement!

Cams, kit, pushrods, tuner, install and dyno 1200/1400ish and maybe a 30% gain so best bang for the buck.

You could end up with 80hp and then be totally happy. If you want more do big bore.

Cams will allow more air and fuel into the cylinder. Big bore adds more cylinder for air fuel to go into. How much do you want to spend.

If you spray it you will need to pull crank out and have it welded

I wish my heads were done when everything else was done to my bike. I have read allot since then and just getting your heads done alone can make a HUGE differance to how your bike performs. So, if I were to do it all over again and my advice to others would be that if the motor is apart do the heads while you have the chance. I have getting my heads done back on my list but I hate the fact I have to have the motor taken back apart to get something done I should have had done the 1st time. I know that add's to the cost of doing the motor but I am told it is well worth it. I am told the differance is like night and day and that it REALLY compliments the kit one puts into thier bike. Good luck Dude and keep us posted on what all you do and how much you like it as well as what all you have done to your bike after you are done with it.

Best bang for your buck on a carbed bike would be: 1. Cams 2. Heads 3. Big bore 4. 2-1 Exhaust 5. DTT ignition
