Avon tires
So I just ordered my new wheels for my softail deluxe.
Do Avon tires run wide? I'm asking because I went 18/150 rear and don't want to get a 150 Avon if it runs like a 160 and won't fit

I think the avon site will tell you how wide it really is. Then go to the dunlop site and compare to the tires you have already. Some run wider than the dunlops as do other tire makers. Thats what I did when I shopped for tires a couple years ago
You have to be careful here some run wider and some don't. My Avon Venom 150-80-16 measured 157 mm. A lot closer to a 160. But the Avon 150-70-18 only measures 148 mm. These #'s are direct from the Avon website. Make sure you do your home work. Although I like my DB WWW Metzlers 880's just fine. I wish I spent a few extra dollars and had Tab make the Avon WWW instead. Avons are just my preference.

Did you have any trouble with the Avalon 150-80-16 rubbing?
Think I'll prob wait for the Metz than. One less hassle
No that never rubbed ethier. But that sum bitch was wide for a 150. It was also exaggerated by putting it on the stock 3" wide rear rim. So it bowed out on the sides making it appear even wider. It was a very tight fit.But it never rubbed once. I never ride 2 up though and am about 190 pounds.

I just checked the Avon website. I did not see that Avon makes a 140 (REAR) tire in an 18. I only looked at the Venom and Cobra though. I saw in the Venom they make a 15 "and 2 -16" 140 Rear. But you are going 18 rear correct?
I also saw they make a 140-70-18 Venom but it is a FRONT tire not a rear. I would not recommend using a front tire on the rear. But some one else may have more knowledge on that subject.

I'm running a 160/80/16 Avon tire with a 94 Heritage rear fender (avatar picture is not updated yet and still shows the original fender). It's a tight fit but it clears the fender without rubbing anywhere (actually fills the fender out nicely). The only rubbing issue I had (even before I changed the fender) was the front left saddlebag bolt was scuffing the tire when I hit bumps riding two up. I just added a thick washer as a spacer inside the saddlebag to fix that problem. No rubbing anywhere now.
