I was able to stick a Dunlop 160 (designed to be used on a Goldwing, don't know the model) on my '01 fxst. I had already installed the HD wide tire kit (made for a 150 tire). There was minimal space between the fender bolts and the tire. I would guess you'll have to do something drastic to get bigger than that.
Yea, honestly I think I'm going to leave it as is. I thought I would want a bigger tire, but I like the way it looks now. Plus I just love the classic look of the fender and I don't want to alter it. I think some nice allow wheels will be enough for me. I wanna keep that slim look as well.

What are the plans for it, hot rod, bar hopper, bobber?
I don't have a definitive plan yet. Probably a hot rod bar hopper. I thought about some low z-bars on top of 1 inch risers that make the bars sit right on top of the triple trees, but the problem is I'm a big fella and I need to open up some reach for me. That being said I'm thinking about some high rise apes, like 18 inches to open it up. Gonna do some mock ups and see what sits well for me.
I have finally decided that I need to add a 2nd bike the only problem I am having is what am I going to add? I am really torn between an old shovelhead like my old 70 electra glide or a new or 2nd hand 103 SG, let someone else take the 1st hit and I know those 2 are from one extreme to the other. As for the front? I pulled the springs and I put progressive gas filled monotubes in front, lowered an inch and I LOVE it now, feels nice and firm, no bobbing and dipping and tight in turns. Good luck and have fun with your new toy!!
Thanks Tony! You"re right, those are two extremes. Haha. I've been looking at the progressive springs. Just gotta let the wife cool down a little before I pull that trigger.
Lucky bastards Insurance is so prohibitive here in Canada, Adding another bike means I pay almost 1000$ a year more in Insurance, hard to justify specially in a typical 7-8 Month Riding season .
