Default 06 Deluxe Console Removal...HELP

Alright it seems stupid to ask b/c it's self explanatory to rem the acorn nut and the manual sales to remove the corn nut but it won't break torque and it feels like the stud inside starts to grab then gives and spins with the nut. Anyone who has had their console off know of anything I'm missing? Or is it just screwed?

I hope like hell someone didnt use red locktite on it! Tat would be a mo fo. Try to heat it up with a solderind iron directly on the nut to free it up! You dont want it to spin. Proly going to need a new nut and stud anyways.

THE ACORN NUT HAS BOTTOMED OUT ON YOU. I hate to say it, your prob. screwed. You may need to get a dremel with a carbide cut off wheel and cut the top of the acorn nut off. then just spin the nut off the top. Its happened to me and few others too. sorry dude.

I don't know. I bought it used with not even 5,000 miles on it and I don't see why anyone would have it off. Either way I don't have a heat gun not soldering gun so I guess just maybe try a blow dryer on high and spend the eternity waiting for it to hopefully heat up enough. I don't know though if that's the problem. From the illustration is shows for the FXSTD model, it seems there's a stud and the stud is just sitting in there. I know from experience with various other mechanical set ups that this should not be the case. Thanks for your input but does anyone else have any ideas?

pooch....put my reply before I saw yours. Yeah I'm thinking that was the case or someone over-torqued it and whatever holds the stud in place doesn't have enough material to bite like it needs and I don't want to wear away at the material that holds it. Is this how it is set up or is it totally opposite of what I'm thinking?

The carriage bolt prob just spun out of position and the acorn nut is too tight to allow it to slide back into place. Im 99% sure your gonna have to cut the top of the acorn nut off to get the rest of the nut to back out. then you can just replace the whole set up for like 5 bucks.

Well I didn't get it off tonight...that's going to have to be a project for the weekend. I tried prying it up to put some pressure on the retainer to hod it but no joy. I did however pry it up enough to slip out the stock tank panel and install the HogDeluxe tank panel with pouch...which is why I was trying to take it off in the first place. Thanks for all your help anyway. And I really appreciate the parts finder link. That'll come in handy down the road.

Yeah pooch that's what I'm thinking. Like I said, that's gonna have to wait til the weekend when I can go get parts and not plan on riding it. It's my daily driver now that I sold my truck. Again, thanks to ya'll that chimed in.
