I am the same height and my Wild 1's 16" apes are PERFECT...roll them forward to sit above your shoulders or roll them back for shoulder height. They still retain the classic look of the FL softails.

JMHO...I chose the 16" Chubbies because I felt they complimented the classic look of the Heritage more to my liking. But like you, I was torn between those and the Carlinis. You really can't go wrong with either...

I am just about 6-0 and have the 16" Carlini Flying Apes and they are about 1" above my shoulders (the Flying Apes are really 17.5" not 16" - check out their website). I also have 18" Chubbys on another bike and they are 1-2" above my shoulders. When I put a windshield on my Deluxe with the Flying Apes, I do roll the bars back an inch or two to make sure there is no contact with the windshield. When the windshield comes off, I roll the bars forward a couple inches. SJ Ron

I'm right at 6', and 16"s feel perfect to me with a real short riser (1.5", I think). However, it is kind of a subjective thing. I know lots of riders who think I am crazy having bars as high as I do. Still more think 18" to 20" feel right.

Got any friends with ape'd bikes? Sit on 'em!

I have a very nice set of custom apes that I will probably be selling in the next week - just waiting for some decent weather to install new bars. These bars measure 16 - 17", are 1.5" diameter tubing that is crushed for a very unique look. They also have curve back, similar to Flyin Apes, but more aggressive. Clamp area reduces to 1", which I liked as I had bigger selection of risers and clamps, plus the risers don't cost $200. My bike was as a shop for several months last year, and shop owner told me everyone who came in wanted the bars and they had never seen any like them. Any interest, let me know.

Should have no problem.

I ran 16" apes on my RK with the QD windshield for years.
