Good question.....
I have stainless brake lines on one of my Harley's, and as you mentioned they do look good. They also don't expand as much when you 'hit the brakes' and pressure is applied to the line, but I don't notice a big improvement in braking performance.

The typical rider won't feel anything difference. A good set of lines will provide a firmer pedal, but it takes a better than average rider to notice it, except in a really hard braking situation. And sad to say, about 99% of riders only think they are better than average!

Do they work better? Yes, Do they look better? Yes. And you can get them in black too. Goodridge Ebony Series. Are they expensive? No. They cost about the same as stock hoses.
