I will wrap a set of Screamin Eagle 2-into-1 pipes with the DEI Titanium wrap. The pipes no longer have the heat shields.
My fabricator suggested the ceramic coating. As an alternative, my powdercoat guy has the high heat 1000 degree powder. The purpose would be to protect the metal and to help with the heat.
What do you think? I hope the sporster guys lurk here, they seem to like the wrap thing too.
I've got the same wrap over my stock pipes, kind of an experiment till I get a new system. I wraped em dry, I've got 8000mi and they've been wet a couple times. I just had them off for a cam install, no problems noted yet, reinstalled. Did not paint them or the pipes before the install.
I'll probably wrap my new exhaust when I get it. Check out mt photo album for more pics.
What are the benefits of ceramic over powdercoat? I always wanted to wrap my pipes in copper colored wrap. I read somewhere that the pipes deteriorate after a while? The look is awesome though.
My pipes have been wrapped for a couple years. I would like to pull the wraps off, treat my headers to a high heat treatment protecting the metal from rust from any moisture from the wrap. Anytime I wash my bike they get wet. I've got DEI black wrap with black silicone spray.
So my vote is spray with high heat first. The wrap offers some protection from heat but not as much as your heat shields.
Of all the wrap pics I've seen, easily at least half are wrapped over the heat shields. I think it looks great. I got my pipes used off Ebay and they came without heat shields and frankly I wish I had them. I would wrap over them. Those pipes get some kind of hot!

Milty,
Is there an album of photos of your bike? Might you post a bunch please?
