I mis-understood, was thinking you are talking about the Lower Legs..
If you are talking about the Fork Tubes themselves.. mmm.. well.. I dunno if they can even be Chromed functionally !.
I was once looking at some salvage bikes at a yard, and we saw a big dog or some crap chopper like that, which had the fork tubes chromed, the guy that was showing me the bikes stated that what happens with chromed forks is they snap in accidents where the non chromed ones bend. He stated that during the chroming process the forks harden so they snap instead of bending. And believe me all the stock bikes with bent forks looked like they took a much harder hit than that chopper with the chrome forks, they literally snapped right in half.
I'm not sure if its science but seemed like it was.
you don't want to chrome the tubes. they will wear at the seal and they will peel as well keep the tubes as is. do you see anybody else with chromed tubes? NO! call forking by frank in Indiana, Hes the wizard of forking. He will tell you the same thing

True that ^^^ Which is why the FAA forbids chroming of Landing Gear, Prop Spinners, etc. The chroming process has been long known to cause various metals to become brittle.
