Default changing oil myself

Coming up on my 5,000 mile oil change and thinking of doing it myself. I came across what is called the scavenger. Was wondering if this is a must to have when doing a oil change, it seems to make sense just wondering how many use this are something of this nature when doing a oil change. Here's the link to it.

Now you've gone and awoken the scavenger police.

43 k, just change oil the old fashioned way. Every 5k, new syn 3. I don't scavenge the truck or the jeep either. You can use it if it makes ya feel better, won't hurt anything.

It's not a necessity, but I bought one and I like it. I like getting that extra dirty oil out before putting in the new oil.

I am sure that using something like this might make one feel that you are doing something better for your engine but honestly, I don't know that it makes me feel like I have to go out and get it. I have put 32K miles on my Bones and done all my oil changes as stated in the service manual and I have had no issues. I think if something like this were truly necessary it would be mentioned from the MOCO. I think if the manufacturer of my motorcycle, or any of my vehicles needed me to suck out all the old oil out of my engine with each oil change, things like this would be more common. Just looks like another $70 to throw out.

Notice how the website doesn't mention ANYTHING about the benefits of removing all the old oil other than a brief mention in the video about the new oil not breaking down as quickly. Sure, it's common sense that all new oil is probably better than new oil mixed with some old. But again, the MOCO (or any other vehicle manufacturer) doesn't think this is bad for your engine. And this company won't claim any benefits to you motorcycle by using this product because they would probably have to go through some lengthy and more than likely expensive process to prove such benefits.

They are a pretty neat tool however oil has been changed the same way for many, many miles and seems to get the job done.
I like the idea of completely sucking the old oil out however even if you completely drain the pan there is still some oil left in the top end,so there will still be some contamination. And it doesn't work on the primary,I'm not sure if the want is small enough to fit it the tranny fill hole either,so is it worth the expense just for a single application.
Buy it if it makes you feel better but it's not a must have.

No, not a necessity, but I'm ordering mine soon. Why mix Amsoil with 20% of black filth?

There's a thread on here about taking one of the oil lines off after changing the filter and adding 2qts of oil to tank and running motor till clean oil comes out. I did it on my very first oil change to get all the Dino oil out and then changed normally after that.

My thinking is the contaminants in the small amount of residual oil will be filtered out by the new oil filter. If you change your oil at the recommended intervals this device is not worth it IMO.
