I recently aquired a set h-d saddlebags model#88237-07 that are detachable and fit 03 and later softails. My question is there a way to install these on a 1997 fatboy? wondering what the difference is in the mounting.any info would be helpful...thanks
I had 2000-2003 Springer Bags installed on my 98 FB at the dealership. From what I understand the spacing for the mounting hardware is different so the tech drilled a new hole through the fender strut and chrome cover.
If he hadn't told me I would have never had a clue they were different.
Hey small world. I looked at your profile Jim and put two and two together. Here is hoping someone can help you out. Plus we should ride some more together this year. At least more than just festival time.
Karsten your fatboy looks great.same color as mine...I currently have street sweeper exhaust on now,but planning on doing a rinehart 2into1 so exhaust shouldn't be a problem.my bike is in storage so I'm not able to look at the mounting difference at this time..
Sorry for the stupid questions but i have a 2012 FB and am looking for bags that i would be able to remove the left side easly because of a fixture that i use to haul my golf clubs.
I have looked at Dr.V-Twin and like a few that would allow me to not have to relocate the turn signals. I get confused with what typy of Docking i would need, do i need other hardware to keep the bags from hitting the tires?
I have thunderheader 2-1 pipes so they are positioned lower than the stock pipes. I also have rigid sissy bar mounts.
Fhatboy, sounds like you just need a set of easy brackets. Order the one specified for your setup ( ie, hardmount sissybar, removable sissy bar, no sissy bar ect.) and they'll come with whatever docking hardware you need. The plate that mounts to the bag is steel so sagging into any bike parts shouldn't be an issue. Most bags have a stiff back anyways. They remove in seconds with a key so taking the left one off when needed would be a piece of cake.
