Default opinions please on spacer pulley issue

I ordered an absolutely beautiful set of billet chrome wheels, rotors, tires and pulley for my 08 Deluxe that were sold to mount with the standard spacers. Beng **** I get the chrome stock spacers to really start putting the finishing touches on sassy.. (Sorry guys, I did go black wall to really make the wheel pop). Got the wheels -- front mounted beautifully. Rear an issue was encountered -- The diameter of the hole in pulley will not accept the stock spacer. I contacted the dealer --- who has always responded in great fashion to questions and has been easy to deal with to date --- I explained the issues to them. Today they called , left me a message and advised that they were machining a custom spacer -- polished to be pretty of course -- for the wheel for shipment overnight. I greatly appreciate that they did this, but I have concerns ----- 1.. should I be concerned over the fitment to the bearing? 2.. would it not have made more sense to open the pulley to the correct dimension for the stock spacers they had advised would fit?? 3...if there is not a spacer available on the open market to work with stock equipment would you have concerns, insist on the pulley correction (or the correct pulley be sent)? I did check and Harley does not have a spacer that will fit the diameter of the opening on the pulley that was sent .......... it is fair to say that I am being totally obsessed about this. Again, I want to stress that I appreciate their making the efforts to make/alter/machine a spacer and overnight it, but ........

If it works, go with it. Custom is called custom for a reason. Bolt on **** is not custom, and if you're worried about resale, put the stock wheel back on. Machining a spacer or pulley is easy for a machine shop. They're probably making the spacer to save you from sending back the pulley...good customer service IMO. Either way, something will be custom made. If it works, roll with it. I've had to custom make a bunch of stuff on my train, just the way it goes when you have a vision that's not entirely available off the shelf. It's what sets you apart from the bolt on queens!

As long as the length of the new spacer is right, you should be OK. Once everything is bolted up tight, you should be able to tell if the wheel spins freely. Another approach would be to take the pulley to a machine shop and get it drilled out to fit. If the pulley is chrome, you would loose a little, but it's in an inconspicuous place.

While I agree that machining a custom spacer was great, it does not change the fact that this is not the spacer that the manufacturer of the wheels supplies or recommends to be used on the application.

I am hoping that hogpro will forward the correct parts to me or accept the pulley back.

As a general rule custom wheels require custom spacers...more so on newer bikes where Harley changed the offsets every couple of years, to keep the aftermarket company's on their toes. You are really over thinking this...if they send you a spacer that looks good and bolts up, put it on and ride.
