Ive read reports of several cities in the Denver area (Denver included), that are inforcing non street legal exhaust systems on bikes.
Personally, I don't miss Denver one bit. Spent too many times fighting tickets there for having side pipes on one of my cars despite passing inspection in Aurora, having my automobile registered in another state, and being on active duty. I still remember being before the judge on three bull **** exhaust tickets and him asking why I hadn't paid the first ticket while he said he didn't give a **** that the car passed inspection in Aurora (basically across the street). Eventually, I had the pipes removed and just avoided Denver proper until I was reassigned.
That's the problem with this device. It's the size of a briefcase and will be set up in random in conspicuous locations. My bet (since they cost 112 grand a pop) is that they're wont be many, and they will set up mostly in high complaint areas. If I ever happened to find one if these in a car, I would sit there with a hood on and blast an airborne constantly. Whip out my *****, put them in front of the camera an **** in the gas tank. Or cover my plate and do a burn out in front of it. This concept is asinine, and they guy who created them has a hard on for his own reflection and has never enjoyed the true finer things in life. I hate to sound like such a tool but the idea of these devices makes me furious. If the cops can't catch the
Idiots causing problems, that's their own problem. Leave us decent peoria alone.

yep, denver proper sucks ***. Cant carry there either. I pretty much avoid Denver unless Im working there. I live 45 miles north up here where its pretty rural. Lots of great riding here. Just wish the season was longer.
Edmonton has had this noise by-law in place for a year now, but with manned test sites set up like check stops. There have been conviction problems in the courts associated with the use of the equipment.
That said, this issue pivots on the noise threshold set. I also have a Ducati 999 with Termi race-only pipes and it makes less that 50% less noise than the volume required to trigger a violation (92 decibels while idling and 96 decibels while the engine is revving @ 2000rpm). Plus the cops will cut you +2dB leeway before writing you up, just like they cut you some leeway with speed. More that 2X the volume of this Ducati/Termi system SHOULD be illegal.
Remember that +3dB = 100% more noise. dB is not a linear scale.
These jackasses that complain about how loud my Harley is are the same poeple who let their stupid car alarm go off for 20 minutes at a time before they realize it is theirs and it is always at night or they are they same person who lets the dog bark all night in the back yard and I could go on and on. If you read the article it was created by a man because his daughter was woken up by his neighbors motorcycle. Well cry me a river I have two children who were woke up for alot of reasons and I survived. He needs to put on his big boy pants and get a freaking life.
At 112k a pop as stated above, I don't see how any will be bought around here unless the gov gives a 100% grant...
They can't even afford to put camera's in our county Police car and only a few of our city Police cars has radar, which those hand held units.
If they do them like the red light cameras the municipality or states get them for free and cost is paid for in the tickets issued. A percentage goes to the company and rest to the state or municipality. It is all a big revenue shakedown local govt's are broke and these companies prey on the citizens by promising the govt revenue from the fines.
Where are our numbers > HOG, ABATE, AMA, SEMA, a manufacturers association ?
I live in the state of Chicago, some call it Illinois, but I am a realist. Those of us out in the good part of the state are dictated to by chitcago. I cant believe we are not already the worst example of this sort of noise crackdown in the nation.
Because my hobbies involve many different things, firearms, airplanes, boats, motorcycles........ I have seen attacks on freedoms in each of these and a prepared and massive public response is necessary to protect ourselves.
Better to be prepared and hang together lest we all hang separately.
