I worried about the same thing, but I bought them anyway. As it turns out, though, they are really bright during the day. I had my bike out today and my wife, who breifly dove behind me, said she could definitely see them. Specifically she said that the lights, and the light bouncing off the Vivid Black fender, are very noticeable.
