That depends, if you plan on doing any other upgrades to the engine (heads, cams, etc.) you should get the SERT.
It has a stage one download in it and the dealer should install it for you and give you the data cable and software CD (for your laptop or desktop computer) that will allow you to modify the MAP's in the ECM at home later.
But if your just going to change the pipes and the intake (already done with the Big Sucker) a stage one download should be all you need.

So if the stage one is done and I know I will not make any other changes to the engine being I have a CVO with the 110 engine, you don't think I should get the SERT. Won't that add some more power? And will the SERT eliminate the back fire/popping?

Default SERT tuner

Tried to call the dealer and they have not returned my call. When I was looking at this bike before I bought it I asked if there was a SERT done and was told yes. I am stating to think they pulled a fast one on me. I took it out for a quick ride today(it's only 40 out so it was cold) and I noticed when I slowed down a couple of times I heard a little pop. I never had this issue with my 2006 Dyna that had a SERT on it. Is there a way to look on the bike to tell if there was anything done to it. Thanks in advance..

Worried New Owner of a 2009 FXSTSSE3

FIRST there is no such thing as a stock Heavy breather... its a H/P A/C.

Second if it has a SERT, then YES U should have gotten the hardware that comes with it.

Third. A little or even several pops doesn't mean it doesn't have the tuner.. Its not unusual to have a little to some popping. Mine had a big bunch of decell popping, caused by muffler air leaks, re-sealed them and re-dynoed twice before they got 95% of it out...

Forth.. No U can't look at the bike to see if its got the SERT Because its not a piggyback system.

IF U had one before (SERT tuner) U should know that.

Now If the dealer said it had a SERT tuner on a used bike I was buying and didn't give me the hareware, Then I'd be in there first thing in the morning asking for the hardware for the Hardware so I could re-tune it when needed. To me thats a pretty good chuck of $$$ in the deal. If they cant produce it after U were told it had one then I'd make them put a new one on and tune it,,,, ON THEIR DIME.. or something I'd be happy with, like lowering the price about $800.00. (the price of the SERT install and Dyno)

I'll add I love the SERT and still think its one of the best, If U have a good tuner to tune it.

Thanks for replying.
What I meant by stock heavy breather is that is what was on the bike when it came from Harley. I was told it had a tuner on it and after it was delivered and I asked for it and I was then told it did not have one. I told them since I was told this bike had one then I expect one to be on the bike. I understand that the salesman may have made a mistake or assumed that it had one and I told him that. I also told him that I do not want the bike if it didn't have one. So I am assuming that they will put one on at their expense. However, I wouldn't be surprised it they turn around and try and get me to pay for it. This is going to come down to he said and what I said he said.

And on my old bike that had a SERT I thought their was some kind of plug that the SERT plugs into.

I agree with you on the SERT. I like it and that is why it was important to me that this bike had one on it.

Update! I talked to the dealer today and they are going to do a Stage 1 and SERT at no charge. They also said it should be ready tomorrow. I am glad this has all worked out and I can't wait to get the bike back because the weather here in Mass is in the high 70's and I am going crazy.

Great deal, just make sure they give you the CD and interface cable so you can change things if needed later.

I'm jealous, that's a seriously sweet looking ride.
God luck with it and ride safe.

Thanks, every time I look at it I still can't believe that it's mine. How do I make this pic my signature picture. I have tried and it tells me it's to big. How do you resize so it will fit. Thanks

You have to edit the picture with whatever picture editor you have on your computer and lower the resolution. That will decrease the file size.
