Smile 2006 Fatboy Cams

Hi everyone...i just got myself a 2006 Fatboy, which has about 27,500 miles on it. Everything is stock except high flow air filter and the exhaust with baffles removed. Im thinking of a cam upgrade and is wondering what people's opinions are? I ride mainly in the city and would like the occasional road trip and is looking for a cam that allows me to pull away in the low to mid rpm range. I dont really want to upgrade to a big bore it and is looking at a minimum of upgrades for good effect. So,...

1. What cams are recommended? Any issues i have to bear in mind? What does it do to gas mileage n operating temperature?

2. I have read somewhere that the cams does make a difference to the idling sound of the bike. Im not sure what exactly this effect is? Anyone has experience with this?

3. How about cylinder head porting? Should this be done together with the cam upgrade for best effect?

4. I have not had a look at the cam chain tensioners. I suppose if I were to upgrade the cams i might as well do something about the cam chain tensioners? Whats the best value for money upgrade for the cam chain tensioners so that it will b problem free in the long run?

5. Any recommended suppliers for the cams n cam chain upgrades?

Appreciate your thoughts on this. Cheers!

If youre leaving it an 88", Andrews tw21's. Low to mid and the increased engine breaking is another benifit. A 2n1 also adds to low to mid. The idle does sound better, a little rougher. You wil need to richen the fuel a bit. Lots of options - Power Commander, Dolbeck TFI, dyno tune with TTS... Our 06 bikes have the newer style heads with larger exhaust port and increased flow - no head work necessary. Either replace tensioners or look into the Hydraulic Tensioners kits from Andrews and HD. Depends on your budget.

Congrats on your bike!

If you want more low to mid range power put your baffles back in.

Put baffled in regardless of any cam upgrades? That will mean giving up any sound that is left on the bike interesting thought though.

Lots of cams to pick from.

Why don't U look in the two threads we have in here that show all the dyno sheets.
In these threads U can see what was used and the sheet will show U where the TQ is with them.

to look at most of the cams out there here's a link that U can compare them to each other.

U might also read through some of these to learn more to be able to make a good pick.
