So far I have been very happy with the service and products I have purchased from Fuel Moto. I am going to pull the trigger on the Fuel Moto 107" big bore kit as soon as we get back from the Laughlin River Run at the end of April. (Don't want to have to do a break-in on a new top end right before a big trip)
That being said, can anyone give me feedback on this product? Everything on their site is all on baggers with dual exhaust, etc. Are there any Softail owners that have gone this route? If so, what is your experience as far as power, performance, maintenance, durability, fuel mileage, etc.
This will be one of the most expensive mods I do to my bike, and I'm wondering what to expect for the $$.
I don't personally have one, but will be doing it when I get some more miles torn in to the 96".
However, Someone with a FatBoy Lo did this a few months ago, i don't recall who it was, but I remember him saying it was really a great set up. My local indy just recently did the FuelMoto 98" kit on a bike, and said the materials were top notch quality. He told me he's also got a bike in the shop that is waiting on a 107" kit, and would recommend it to anyone. I may even get ambitious and do the engine tear down and build myself.. it's all Chapter 3 in the service manual.. and i'll be doing the Fuel Moto kit.. there are other 107" kits out there, but from what I can tell, none of them come with a new set of cams as well.. and $1200 for a 107" top end AND your choice of TW-555's or 777s? You can't beat that. And I'm sure you know this, but while you have the engine torn apart, or are doing this kit, send your heads out for porting and polishing..that's where the money is
Any idea what head work usually costs? I called around at a few shops here, and they were all close to the $1k - $1500 just for head work. If its really that expensive, I will absolutely have to wait for some point down the road if at all for that mod. I'm not looking to build a race engine, but I want more usable power when chugging up the mountains with 2 up and gear, and it needs to be reliable. (or at least as close to reliable as it can be)
The only other mods I am planning on are the auto-tuner for the PCV, and a 2 into 1 pipe. After that, its all bling and style changes.
